Catering

Since 2008 food has been provided by our in house catering team, led by Mrs June Dodd our Catering Manager.

 

  •  Lunchtime Menus

 

We have one dining area in A block.

 

Dining Room offers a traditional hot choice – typically a meat (or vegetarian option) and 2 veg meal. A meal deal incorporating a hot meal and hot pudding costs only £2.15. The menu is varied and in a typical week you can expect Roast Beef and Yorkshires, Mince and Dumplings, Lasagne and every Friday we offer our own battered fish and chips. There is at least a choice of 4 main items on sale daily and a favourite is Pasta King – pasta with a variety of sauces.

 

We also offer a more snack variety – sandwiches, soup, baked potatoes, paninnis, chicken joes (hot chicken in a sauce in a tortilla wrap with salad) and our speciality – ‘Hungry Junes’ – various buns (brown, white, cheesey etc) or wraps, made up while you wait, with a choice of 10 fillings (including ham, turkey and corned beef) and as much salad as you want.

 

Both kitchens offer a range of hot and cold drinks, water, biscuits, yoghurts, milk based drinks, cakes and fruit.

 

Free filtered water is available in both.

 

As well as a lunchtime service we offer the following services:

  • Breakfast – 8:00am – 8:35 am Monday to Thursday (Not Fridays due to mass).
  • Break service – hot and cold drinks.

All our food meets the latest government healthy food guidelines. We use a computer programme called ‘Relish’ to analyse every dish to ensure it meets guidelines and recipes are adjusted accordingly. This way we ensure that the fat and salt, protein and other nutrient values meet legislative guidance.

 

We operate a balanced, four week rolling menu.

 

At Our Lady and St Bede we operate a cashless catering system using biometrics (fingerprints). Whilst an initial scan of a fingerprint is taken to set up an account, this is not stored on our system but converted to a numerical code. This system has sped up queues meaning customers get served quicker and it meets government guidelines as issued by the ICO.

 

Money can be added to an account by either:

  • Cash paid in via a cash box in middle block.
  • Parentpay – an online payment system – please ask for details.
  • Cheque – payable to Our Lady and St Bede – hand in at the school office.

Want to know what your child is eating? – just contact Mrs Dodd, Catering Manager and she will send you a printout of all your child’s transactions.

 

You can limit your child’s daily spend. For example if they pay £10 in to the cashbox on Monday, you can limit them to say £2.50 a day thus removing temptation to spend it all by Wednesday!!!!
